Section: Human Resources

Subject: Employee Use of Health and Wellness Office

PURPOSE:
To clarify the services provided by the Health and Wellness office to faculty and staff.

POLICY:
The Health and Wellness Office’s primarily role is to offer health and wellness services to students. In addition to this, the office will provide injury evaluation and first aid to employees who are injured on the job. A flu clinic will be offered at cost each fall to faculty and staff. With the exception of the Sisters of Mercy, it is expected that all other health services required by faculty and staff will be obtained through their own personal physician.

PROCEDURE:
All employees injured on the job should report to the Health and Wellness office for evaluation. The medical staff member on duty will evaluate the symptoms or injury and recommend appropriate follow-up. A clinical evaluation form will be sent to the Human Resource Office for inclusion in the employee’s worker’s compensation file. If further medical attention is recommended, the Human Resource Office will refer the employee to Occupational Health and Rehabilitation.

All seriously injured personnel will be sent directly to an emergency room.
