Overview

Wellehan Library, located on the second floor of the Heffernan Center, is open 84 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours, and extended hours during final exams. The library provides:

• 100,000 books
• 400 scholarly journals, magazines and newspapers
• access to online databases
• audiovisual collection of videotapes and music CDs
• Interlibrary Loan program
• participation in the Greater Portland Alliance of Colleges and Universities
• special collections – Merton, Desjardins, Chancery, Moser Press and Healy

• 18 computer workstations

Providing information resources and service to students is the heart of Wellehan Library. Library staff are available to help students learn how to use our resources as effectively as possible. Other options include:

• individual help at the reference desk
• customized library instruction session in the classroom
• individual appointment to work on particular assignment or research skill

We encourage students to come to the library, to ask questions, and to allow us to help them in whatever way we can.

Policies

Food & Drink - Beverages in covered containers are allowed; please enjoy food outside the library.

Cell Phones - Please make and take cell phone calls outside the library and silence ringers or set to vibrate when in the library.

Student Borrowing Policy - Students are responsible for items checked out on their cards. Overdue notices are sent via email. Three weeks past the due date, a bill for the cost of the item plus a processing fee will be sent via email to the student and forwarded to the Treasurer's Office. If the item is returned, the student will only be responsible for the processing fee of $15.00 per item.
