| Interlibrary loan for distance learning Interlibrary Loan Policies and Procedures for Distance Learning Students Any article not available in full text through one of the library’s databases may be requested via interlibrary loan. Simply fill out a journal article request form for each article you would like. If we have the article in our collection, we will scan it and send it to you electronically. If we don’t own the article, we will request an electronic copy from another library, and will forward it to you upon arrival. If you would prefer a hard copy or a faxed copy of an article in our collection, we will copy the article at 10 cents per page and fax or mail it to you. Copying charges will be billed directly to your account at the treasurer’s office. Any book owned by Wellehan Library can be sent to you by mail. To see if we own the book that you need, please check MINERVA, our online catalog. (Once you have performed your search, check to see that Saint Joseph’s College is in the box next to the Search button. If the box says All MINERVA Locations, please click on the down arrow next to the box and choose Saint Joseph’s College from the pop-up list before proceeding.) To request a Wellehan book, please fill out a book request form. (Please be sure to fill the form out completely, so that we may get the book to you as quickly as possible.) We will mail the book to you, using a four-week checkout if you are in the U.S. and a six-week checkout if you are outside of the U.S. You may renew the book by contacting us at ill@sjcme.edu or at (207) 893-7725. Before you send the book back to us, you may wish to renew to ensure that your book is not overdue when it arrives here. Overdue fines are fifty cents per day per item. Fines or replacement charges for lost books will be billed directly to your account at the treasurer’s office. To interlibrary loan a book that is not owned by Wellehan Library, please submit an interlibrary loan request. Please be aware that Interlibrary Loan requests may take up to two weeks to fill. The length of time it takes to fill each request depends on how many requests we have to fill each day, how many libraries we must ask in order to get the article or book you need, and how soon the lending library can get your request to us. We do not limit the number of requests per person, but in order to be fair, we will process only five requests per person per day. Again, please be sure to fill out all forms completely. Wellehan Library makes every effort to provide free access to all articles requested, and is able to do so for nearly all requests. However, we may occasionally be unable to find a library that is willing to provide a particular article for free. In that case, we will contact you and let you know what the cost of the article would be (usually $11-$18), and will not move ahead with the request unless you tell us that you are willing to pay for the article. The article cost will then be added to your account at the Treasurer’s office. If you have any questions at all about Interlibrary Loan (how to request
an item, the status of your request, etc) please contact us! Janice
Murphy, who takes care of all incoming and outgoing Interlibrary Loan
requests, is available by phone at (207) 893-7725 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.
