Environmentally-friendly vendors and nonprofits will showcase everything from hybrid Hondas to honeybees. The Eat Local lunch menu features fresh, locally grown vegetables, salads and meats, including many grown at the college itself. Don't miss the barbecue pulled pork from Little Alaska Farm, served with a Sebago Brewing stout sauce sweetened with Maine maple syrup, blueberries and mustard. And then there's the locally made cheesecake! The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the central lawn between Xavier & Mercy Halls at the heart of the campus. Lunch will be served from 11 to 1:30 and is $10 for the public. Tours of the campus farm will be offered at noon and 1 p.m. Parking is available behind the Harold Alfond Recreation Center at the rear of the campus. The Alfond Recreation Center gym will serve as a back-up location in the case of rain. Please note the campus gate on Whites Bridge Rd. is accessible from Rte. 35 only, as a bridge closure has cut off the entrance from the Rte. 302 side of Whites Bridge Rd. that is nearer Raymond. For more information, contact 893-7723. |
