Elementary education student wins award for extensive service

Saint Joseph's College recently awarded its Spirit of Mercy Award to Susan Muzzy of Greenville, Maine, a junior elementary education student. The award recognizes a person who lives with a spirit of kindness and tolerance, honors the dignity of all persons and puts herself at the service of others. Muzzy is being especially recognized as one who is ever-conscious of others. She has served the campus community in many ways, such as helping at Catherine's Cupboard Food Pantry, participating in the Midnight Run food and clothing distribution efforts for homeless people in New York City, working to reinstate the Mission Integration position in the Student Government Association, volunteering as part of an alternate spring break called Spring Break Workfest in Washington, D.C and Kentucky.
