President's Message

President James DlugosThank you for visiting Saint Joseph’s College!

Founded in 1912 by the Sisters of Mercy in Portland, Saint Joseph’s has met the educational needs of generations of students through a wide variety of programs infused with traditions and values based on our Catholic liberal arts and Mercy heritage. Over the past 100 years, those needs have changed and the college has always responded with opportunities guided by our commitment to excellence and access.

Today, we offer residential programs at our beautiful Sebago Lake campus in southern Maine and online programs for students living across the country and internationally.

Our Web pages will provide you with a wealth of information about the college and our programs, but what really makes us special are the people who are Saint Joseph's College. We’d love to see you in person or hear from you by phone or email as you explore the ways that Saint Joseph's College can be part of your life’s journey.

Best wishes,
Dr. James Dlugos

November 12, 2012: Thanksgiving, Gratitude, and the Liberal Arts
As the College community prepares for our own Thanksgiving celebration this week, we are mindful that gratitude is, like all virtues, something that improves with practice. But I would like to suggest that gratitude can and should also be seen as one of the “liberal arts.”
October 25, 2012: Dr. Loring Hart
The College received news earlier this week of the death of Dr. Loring Hart. Dr. Hart served as Saint Joseph’s eleventh President from 1987 to 1995.
