Chris Callaway

Chris Calloway, philosophy faculty

Dr. Callaway specializes in ethics and political philosophy. His research focuses on the possible applications of virtue ethics to discussion of issues of citizenship. He is especially interested in the relation between religious commitment and political life. In 2008, he presented "Epistemic and Volitional Reasonableness" at the conference, The Epistemology of Liberal Democracy: Free Speech, Disagreement, and Common Belief at the University of Copenhagen. In recent years, he has also made presentations at meetings of the Pacific Division of the American Philosophical Association, the Association for Political Theory, the American Catholic Philosophical Association, and the United Kingdom Association for Legal and Social Philosophy.

Dr. Callaway teaches Philosophy and Ethics, Modern Philosophy, Ethics and the Good Society, Good and Evil: Philosophical Perspectives, and Social and Political Philosophy.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, travelling, cycling, and watching (and talking about) movies.
