Cynthia Mowles

Cynthia Mowles, education professor

Professor Mowles loves teaching at Saint Joseph's College and strongly believes that it's important to know students as individuals, not just as students. Her courses include Educational Foundations, Curriculum Design Practicum/Secondary Education, Teaching Methods in Secondary School, and Children's Literature. She has a strong interest in children's literature and does research on the beginning stages of learning how to read. She also researched and collaborated on a book about child abuse and neglect.

Prior to teaching at Saint Joseph's, Professor Mowles was a school superintendent in New Hampshire and in three school districts in Maine. She enjoys interior decorating, gardening, specifically flowers, and is an avid reader of fiction.
