Ray Gerber

Ray Gerber, Professor of Biology, Chair
Professor Gerber's graduate training is in oceanography. During his career, he has studied marine life from all over the world. His scientific publications include research on coral reefs, rocky shores, marine zooplankton and oil spills. He is currently studying the freshwater zooplankton of New England.

Professor Gerber enjoys teaching biology, doing research and producing documentary films. His teaching goal is to encourage students to think about what they are learning and to ask themselves how science fits into their world. He encourages students to drop by his office to say hello and to chat. He makes time to talk to students about their classroom work and career opportunities.

His many hobbies include photography, sound recording, kayaking, hiking, wildlife watching, travel and exercise.
