Professor Gulnick studies the biogeochemical controls in bacterial activity
and production in aquatic environments and, specifically, the relationship
between bacterial production and phytoplankton primary production in Sebago
Lake and Casco Bay. She recently co-authored a paper on patterns of carbon
mineralization and bio-irrigation in the sediments of Casco Bay.

"Looking
at Sebago Lake: A middle school researcher's guide to Maine's deepest
lake." A web site about the lake's geography. It covers how to determine
water quality and how food webs operate - not just in Sebago, but also
for lakes in general. The easy-to-navigate site links to other relevant
environmental sites in its resources section.
