William Hoyt

Professor Hoyt has been on the SJC faculty since 1978, and his courses include Astronomy, Environmental Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I and II and Analytical Chemistry. His academic interests focus on developments in astronomy and the solar system as well as advances in organic chemistry. He also does research on the coupling of acid chlorides.

Professor Hoyt's article, titled "Freight Trains - A Useful Analogy of Polymers," was published in the Journal of Chemical Education, and his article, "Nuclear War - The Ultimate Environmental Insult," appeared in the Journal of the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers.

Professor Hoyt attends the Naples Methodist Church, where he is very involved. He has completed a lay speaking course, which allows him to conduct Sunday morning worship services. His hobbies include coin-collecting and reading science fiction.
