Professor Martin teaches undergraduate community health nursing and the
senior internship for on-campus students, as well as distance community
nursing and nursing leadership/management for distance education students.
Her nursing background includes critical care, long-term
care, nursing administration and home health care. She has a Clinical
Specialist in Community Health Nursing Certification, American Nurses
Credentialing Center, 1995-present, and she has publications on a variety
of topics including wound care, administrative issues, infectious disease,
and care of the person with chronic illness.

Professor Martin has made presentations around the U.S.
on a variety of topics, including writing for publication, professional
issues in community nursing, and engaging undergraduate students in research.
Her research activities are in childhood lead poisoning prevention, folic
acid consumption among college-age women, and health promotion among college
seniors.
She has a Certificate of Appreciation For Outstanding Leadership
in the Promotion of Folic Acid Awareness in Maine, presented by the Maine
Folic Acid Council and First Lady Karen Baldacci in 2003.
