Saint Joseph's prides itself on the quality of its student advising. The Registrar's Office works with the chair of each department to ensure that each student is assigned a faculty advisor who will properly advise the student in course selections. Information concerning advisor assignments is available at the Registrar's Office.
Students registered in the 4-year College may enroll in one (1) Faculty Directed Independent Study course each semester through the Division of Graduate & Professional Studies under the following conditions:
It is the student's responsibility to contact Graduate & Professional Studies for course enrollment materials. The Faculty Directed Independent Study Contract for Graduate & Professional Studies must be completed and signed by the dept. chair/faculty advisor.
Registration materials for Greater Portland Alliance of Colleges and Universities (GPACU) courses are available at the Registrar's Office. Students interested in Alliance courses should meet with Lisa Merrill, Associate Registrar, to review the process and the availability of courses at other institutions.
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) gives students the right to control access to their educational records. Information about FERPA is printed in the "Student Handbook," and the "College Catalog." A full copy of the act is available to you. If you would like your own copy, contact the Registrar's Office.
Transcript requests are normally processed within 1-3 business days of receipt of the request. Requests for multiple transcripts may require more time. Standard delivery of transcripts is by U.S. Mail first-class. To provide the best service possible and to maintain security of academic records, transcripts may be ordered the following ways:
Electronic Transcripts
Ordering Electronic transcripts ONLY: click here.
*This site is for students from Saint Joseph's College who attended after September 1980. Your transcript will be sent securely through eSCRIP-SAFE (a secure electronic alternative to the traditional paper transcript) in a PDF format via email. Currently the service fee is $8.00 per electronic delivery address.
NOTE: Electronic transcripts sent to the recipient are considered OFFICIAL upon delivery, but become UNOFFICIAL if passed on to another recipient.
Saint Joseph's College, in partnership with SCRIP-SAFE International, is able to deliver official transcripts electronically through eSCRIP-SAFE to network recipients or outside the network to third parties. This electronic delivery service is available only to SJC students who have enrolled since September 1980. Please read the following before completing your transcript request:
You should always notify your intended recipient they will be receiving important email messages regarding the electronic delivery of your transcript. To ensure delivery of these important email messages, please inform the recipient to add the domain name of @escrip-safe to their safe-sender email list.
OneTime receivers must complete a simple registration for each transcript delivered through eSCRIP-SAFE. In addition, they must have a copy of Adobe Reader 7.0, or higher, which is free and easy to download on their computer. The receiver has three options to retain the transcript: (1) save to the institution's document imaging system; (2) save electronically as a PDF document; or (3) print to paper.
Your transcript is never delivered by email; email is limited to notification and reminder messages regarding the delivery of your transcript.
To use this method, include the recipient's name and email address on the order form and check the "electronic outside the network recipient" option.
