Sports management internship
Chris Taylor ’08 Chris Taylor is presently the Baseball Operations Assistant for the Memphis Redbirds; the Triple-A affiliates of the 2006 World Series Champions, St Louis Cardinals. Chris is a senior at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and is going for his Sports Management Degree. Chris recently took a leave of absence to take this position. He will return to Saint Joseph’s College in September to finish up his studies. At the moment, Chris is working on hiring game -day staff for the Memphis Redbirds. The Memphis Redbirds are one of the highest respected organizations in Minor League Baseball. The first Civil Rights game will be held at AutoZone Park, the home of the Memphis Redbirds. The Civil Rights Game, which will be held annually, will pay “tribute to one of our country's most significant eras of social change and honor Major League Baseball's involvement in the notable struggle through which African-American players broke barriers and made important contributions to American society. This game can be seen on ESPN on March 31st (www.memphisredbirds.com).” While at St. Joe’s, Chris worked with Coach Reardon, the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball Team and took a Summer Internship in Boston at a Sports Marketing and Agency Organization. While working in these different organizations Chris was able to learn and understand the business of sport. Chris encourages students who have an interest of sports to go into Sports Management when looking at a Major. The Sports Management program at Saint Joseph's College is growing fast and he encourages students who have a desire to go into the Business of Sport to look into their program.
