Brian White ’06, student intern with the Portland Sea Dogs
Brian was the assistant director of business and stadium operations. During
his internship, he helped with promotions and marketing, public relations,
media relations and ticket sales. He gained experience and knowledge
of professional sports at the minor league baseball level. Day to
day operations included making sure the stadium was ready for each game
day. If there were any problems, he handled the situation or called in
the proper person. The business side included daily banking transactions,
working in QuickBooks and participating in some accounting transactions.
On game days, he helped with on-field promotions and with setting up
player interviews and autographs with fans.
What he liked most about the internship was the broad level of experience
he gained. It gave him a great sense of knowledge in all different aspects
of the job. Brian’s biggest challenge was changing every light
bulb in the scoreboard at Hadlock Field!
