William Lemke

Dr. William Lemke (History) was interviewed at Bowdoin College by Bill Green of WCSH- TV for inclusion in a segment on "Bill Green's Maine " broadcast on Sept. 4. Lemke discussed Major Ellis Spear, who succeeded Joshua Chamberlain as commander of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The segment focused on Spear's dispute with Chamberlain about the action at Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg, and the men's differing perspectives on the Civil War.
