I love the sense of community on campus. Everyone is friendly and very
involved with the college.
What do you enjoy most about being an admission officer at SJC?
Working with students and their families through the admission
process is great. Higher education is such an important thing, and I get
to help students attain it! It's a very rewarding job.
Best advice to students
as they conduct their college search
I would suggest first deciding what kind of college you
want to go to (small, large, rural, urban) then I think it's easier to
start narrowing down the search. Definitely visit as many schools as possible
and stay overnight with a student to get a good feel for the atmosphere
on campus.
Suggestions for interviewing
Stay as calm and relaxed as possible so your true personality
can shine through. An application can only tell a counselor so much, so
let the interview show them facets of you that can't be expressed through
writing!
Most rewarding academic
experience or influential teacher and why?
At Allegheny College, every
senior is required to complete a senior project. It's comprised of a written
thesis and an oral defense. The complete process of planning, researching
and actually writing the paper took my entire senior year. Passing my
defense oral and holding my 60+ paper (in Spanish!) was definitely the
most challenging and rewarding academic experience of my life so far.
Why apply to Saint
Joseph's College of Maine?
If you want a small, liberal
arts college with small classes, lots of contact with faculty and staff,
huge opportunities to get involved and a great location, you have to apply
to Saint Joseph's!
