The warmth and friendliness of the community members. The beautiful location
on Sebago Lake.
I enjoy visiting prospective students' hometowns and high schools. I
particularly enjoy talking to students and families about Saint Joseph's
College.
Take some time to think about what you would like from your college
experience. That way, you can find the best match, which is very important!
Think about your experiences in high school, both in and out of the classroom.
What did you enjoy? What would you rather not repeat? Why do those
memories stand out? What did you learn about yourself and how have
you changed as a result of those experiences?
In college, I took a course on the theories of how people learn. Simultaneously,
we were required to spend 10 weeks learning a new skill (I chose modern
dance). The self-analysis portion of the class made the theories come
alive. I came back with a deeper appreciation - and much more practice
- for the "two steps forward, one step back" process of learning.
I don’t think the impact would have been as powerful had I simply
studied the information. I had to experience it.
If you enjoy an academic challenge, being involved in activities outside
of class, and being part of a close knit community, you should apply
to Saint Joseph's College.
