1. Whirlwind…

    November 14, 2009 by Bradley

Wow! I can’t believe everything is going by so fast here! Only one more week until Thanksgiving and it doesn’t even seem possible that we are registering for next semesters classes. A lot of things have been happening around here, I guess that’s what makes the time go by so fast, as well as classes of course. Classes have all been going very well, it’s great to be among professors that are just awesome! I have also been busy working with the admissions office on our open houses the past couple weeks. I was glad to see a lot of prospected students come to see the beautiful campus that St. Joes has to offer. I hope everyone had a great time! Another great thing about the open houses were I got to do my first big group tours, which was interesting since the first time it was pouring rain and the second time is was VERY windy. We can’t always have perfect weather though!

Speaking of new experiences, well not exactly new, but interesting. I dissected a cat in my anatomy lab last week. I though it was the most interesting thing that we did in science, but of course there were people that disagreed =). I didn’t have too much trouble cutting into it, lets just say. The things we do for science huh? Of course its probably nothing compared to what I will see in my future career as a nursing student here at St. Joes! Lets just hope I can handle that stuff just as good as I can the dead cat!

Quick shout out to Allyson Woods who reminded me to do my blog! =) Look Allyson We are FAMOUS! haha

  2. Almost Break Time..

    October 5, 2009 by Bradley

The semester so far has been going by pretty fast, we are already 5 weeks into it! I am continuing to love my classes, and have been doing pretty well in them since studying is a big part of my time here. I specifically like my Western Civilization class this semester. I am in the honors class, and I am enjoying it very much. We discuss so many different things as well as write some interesting essays. My favorite class is of course Chemistry, since I do the best in that class. I have always been interested in Chemistry. This weekend is my first break, I am heading home for my Birthday with friends of mine who have their birthday the same week as mine! I can’t wait to see my best friends again, it has been so long! Of course I also can’t wait to get back to St. Joes to see the friends I will leave behind for a few days. Oh and by the way, if your Anatomy Lab professor asks you to volunteer, do not raise your hand. I made that mistake and had blood drawn!  =/

  3. First Freshmen Weeks!!

    September 22, 2009 by Bradley

So it has been exactly 2 weeks and 2 days since I started here at St. Joes as a Freshmen Nursing major. Let me just tell you all that so far I am having the best time of my life. I could not have made a better choice than to spend the next 4 years at Saint Joseph’s College. Like all freshmen, I was a little nervous when I first moved into a dorm smaller than my room at home. Since I had never shared a room with anyone it was interesting to say the least. I got to know my roommate before we moved in, and we hit it off quite well so that wasn’t a big deal! Thank god for that! Orientation weekend was a lot of fun, but also very tiring! We had a scavenger hunt using text messages and then other great activities put on by Student Life. I had no trouble at all sleeping those nights!

I was so excited to start classes here at St. Joes! When I started I realized that this was going to be a great year. The professors are all great and really seem like they want you to succeed as much as you want yourself to. It’s a great feeling to have when sitting in a class of 30+ people, which is pretty small and I love it! I come from a high school where there were only 250+ people in the whole school, so the change to St. Joes was very easy for me, even though it was 3 hours away from my home! I immediately got into the swing of things here, juggling class, homework, social time as well as having meals which a very important time in the day. I also manage to squeeze the gym into my routine some of the time.

After 2 weeks of class I am definitely comfortable here, I absolutely love all of my classes and the professors. I also met my adviser in the nursing department who is absolutely amazing and will probably be chatting with her an awful lot throughout my career here at St. Joes. I also love the job I acquired here on campus. I am a tour guide for the admissions office! It gives me a great opportunity to meet people who are potential students, but also work with the admissions faculty and get to know even more people who work on campus, all of them are really great! It’s pretty interesting to work with the people that helped me be a student at Saint Joseph’s to begin with, and now I fill the spot of helping people make their decisions on where to go to college.

Being a freshman here is not hard; in fact it’s a lot of fun and kind of like being in a candy store. There are so many things to do on campus that you can’t possibly do them all. I chose a few clubs to be in, like the Feeney Players as well as the Student Nurses Association. In my Concepts of Professional Nursing class we will be doing Monday Meals. Which helps give meals to those in need. I cannot express how excited I am to begin this part of the class because it is what I have done so much of in High School.

This is to all those who are going to be college freshmen next year or really anytime. Don’t be nervous! Talk to people you wouldn’t normally talk to, do things you would not normally do. It just might make your college experience that much more exciting! I know it made my first few weeks a blast!
