1. Already in the Holiday Spirit

What a month so far!  The weather’s getting colder (which isn’t unusual at all for Maine) and we’re already talking about registering for our classes next semester!  There’s so many courses to choose from, I just don’t which to take…  Not only that, but in some of my classes we’re having midterms (I have my American Literature Midterm this coming Thursday) and I have two papers due in November.

Despite trying very hard to focus on my studies, I find my mind drifting off to the upcoming Holiday season, with Halloween kicking off in a few weeks.  I’m not sure what I’m going to be this year, but I have SOMETHING in mind.  Although I won’t be going Trick-or-Treating, I’ll still be hanging out with one of my best friends that night!  It’s going to be TONS of fun!

Another thing about the Holidays is that I’ve already started some of my Christmas Shopping, but I’m not the only one.  Some of my friends started Christmas shopping in September.  It’s actually kind of fun…because you can buy gifts for your family and hide them in your room at college until you go home, and then you surprise them on Christmas and they’ll be all “When did you get this? I didn’t see you leave for any shopping?” Oh yeah, it’s fun.

Working as a Tour Guide for the Admissions Office has been fun.  I’ve helped out with one tour and gave one already.  I was nervous, since this is my first year, but I think I did pretty well!  We have our Fall Open House this Saturday and I’m part of the Student Panel and also a Tour Guide, so if any of you potential SJC Students are reading this and are attending the Fall Open House this Saturday…see you then!

  2. SJC, Take 2.

So here I am in my third week back at St. Joe’s and I absolutely LOVE it.  I never thought I’d be so happy to be back at school, but I really am.  I feel so at home.  This year so far has brought new changes to me.

For example, I have a roommate this year.  Last year I was rooming by myself all year.  While the privacy was nice, I got quite lonely, so having a “roomie” this year is quite nice.  Not to mention the room this year actually looks like a dorm room!

This year is also going to be more social for me.  I find I’m hanging out with my friends a lot more.  I’m also a Tour Guide for the Admissions office and I want to be a part of the stage crew for the Feeney Players.  I sure hope I can balance this all…

The only unfortunate part about this year is I’m really missing my boyfriend… He’s in the United States Marine Corps and we hardly talk (but that’s mostly due to neither of us having time to get online or so).  I saw him for a week during the summer.  His family and I went down to Parris Island, S.C., to see him graduate and he came home with us for a week.  It was a lot of fun.  I’m quite proud of him, but sometimes I wish he was still home…
