Named 2008 GNAC Woman of the Year 12/20/07
– Leger Named Second Team All-New England
STANDISH, ME – Senior defender
Jillian Leger (Westminster, MA) of the Saint Joseph's
College women’s soccer team has been named to the NCAA D III
All-New England Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America. Leger is the lone representative of the
Great Northeast Athletic Conference out of the 44 New England region
players honored by the NSCAA.
Earlier this year, Leger was named as a GNAC First Team All Conference defender and also received GNAC All-Tournament honors. In addition, Leger was the recipient of the Saint Joseph's College team MVP award following the conclusion of the 2007 season. As a junior Leger earned nominations to the All-Independent Women's Soccer First Team and the D3 Kicks All-New England Second Team. After her sophomore year she was named to the All-Independent Women's Soccer team as well. Leger has been a 4-year starting Defender and 2-year Captain for Head Women's Soccer Coach Michael Bolanz. During her time as a player for St. Joe's the team has amassed a 50-24-4 (.676) record including a 16-2-3 season in her senior year, the best in the program's history. In her four seasons donning a St. Joe’s uniform, Leger played in 71 games, scored 2 goals with 13 assists for 17 total points and helped the Monks post a total of 35 shutouts. “It's difficult for a defender to get the recognition Jill has received," adds Head Coach Michael Bolanz. "Jillian is certainly one of the best players to ever play here at Saint Joseph's College." 2007 NCSAA Division III All-New England Region Teams 12/13/07 - Women's Soccer Team Awards Announced STANDISH, ME - Head Women's Soccer Coach Mike Bolanz has announced the 2007 team award winners. Senior Defender Jillian Leger (Westminster, MA) was honored with the Most Valuable Player award. FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) led the 16-2-3 team with 15 goals to earn the "Golden Boot Award," which goes to the team's leading goal scorer. The Unsung Player Award went to SR Allison Walton (Meredith, NH) and FY Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA) garnered the Rookie of the Year Award. SO Brianna Jordan (Scarborough, ME) received the "Impact Player Award," which goes to the player who consistently makes the biggest impact on the field and provides the team with intangibles that may not show in the boxscore. College Monks faced off against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Engineers on Wednesday in a ECAC D III Women’s Soccer Championship
Quarterfinal match and lost in OT, 1-0. The game was well played with
plenty of back and forth action but came to an abrupt ending when
SR Janine Hopmans (Davis, CA) scored the game winner in the first
minute of OT (90:57) off a pass from teammate SR Amy Ludlum (Mission
Viejo, CA). Hopmans took the kick on the run from the right side and
found the left corner of the net just past the Monks diving goalkeeper,
Katye Mayo (SO, Fairfield, ME).

Saint Joseph's College Women's Soccer players SR Jillian Leger
(Westminster, MA) and SO Anna Willis (Gorham, ME)
have been named to the All-Tournament Team. 11/5/07 - Monks to Host MIT in ECAC Quarterfinal CAPE COD, Mass - After finishing the regular-season
with a 16-1-3 record, Saint Joseph's College was selected
as the number four seed in the 2007 ECAC Division III New England Women's
Soccer Championship. The tournament is an eight-team field with quarterfinal,

First Round - Wednesday, November 7 STANDISH, ME – The GNAC has announced the 2007 Women’s
Soccer All-Conference Teams, and Saint Joseph's College is well represented.
The 16-1-3 (12-1-2 GNAC) Monks placed four players on the First Team and
four on the Second Team. All recipients were voted on by the Women’s
Soccer coaches in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. STANDISH, ME –
Saint Joseph's College hosted Emerson College in a GNAC Semifinal match
on Tuesday and failed to advance. In the NCAA books, the contest will
appropriately go down as a 2-2 tie, as neither team deserved to lose this
playoff battle. Advancement by one team was necessary and decided by a
best-of-five shootout after the overtime periods were played. The Monks
scored on three of their attempts; the Emerson College players succeeded
on four of five and move on to play Emmanuel College in the GNAC Championship
game this Saturday.
STANDISH, ME – For the third time this season SO GK Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) has received the GNAC Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week award. Mayo played 200 shutout minutes for the week of 10/2-10/28, including a 4-0 GNAC Quarterfinal victory over Albertus Magnus College on Saturday 10/27. The sophomore Mayo has posted incredible statistics this season for the 16-1-2 Monks, with a 0.49 GAA, .859 save % and seven shutouts. 10/27/07 – Falcons Fall to Monks in GNAC Quarterfinal Standish, ME –
Neither the rainy weather nor the Albertus Magnus Falcons were enough
to stop the Saint Joseph's College Women’s Soccer team in GNAC Quarterfinal
play on Saturday. The Monks rolled over the Falcons, 4-0, and were led
offensively by SO Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) who scored
two goals and added an assist. The St. Joe’s defense played another
outstanding game and SO GK Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME)
made 3 saves in the shutout victory. Standish, ME - Saint
Joseph's College and Norwich University dueled to a scoreless tie in a
GNAC Women’s Soccer match Tuesday. The teams seemed evenly matched
as neither defense was willing to break and allow a goal. Standish, ME - The St. Joe's Women trampled
the Pine Manor College Gators on Saturday by a score of 9-2, marking their
highest scoring total of the season. Monks FY Elizabeth McCarthy
(Portsmouth, RI) scored the first two goals of the game and tallied an
assist on the Monks' third goal which was scored by fellow freshman Mikayla
Call (Portland, ME). The Saint Joseph's College Women's Soccer team plays their final regular season game on Tuesday, 10/23 at home against GNAC rival Norwich University. Game time is 3:00 PM
Newton, MA –Saint Joseph's College (14-1-1,
10-1-1 GNAC) defeated Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Lasell
College (9-5, 7-4 GNAC) 2-1 in Women’s Soccer action on Wednesday
afternoon. SO Katye Mayo
(Fairfield, ME/Lawrence HS) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference
Goalkeeper of the Week for Women’s Soccer for the second time this
season. Standish, ME – FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) led the way with a goal and two assists in a winning effort as the Monks (13-1-1, 9-1 GNAC) defeated conference rival St. Joseph College (CT) (7-4-2, 4-4-2 GNAC) 6-0 Saturday. SO Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) played with great intensity all game and posted a goal and an assist in the game. SO Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) made four saves in her 6th shutout bid of the season and has not allowed a goal in three consecutive games.
The Monks started the scoring early and
never looked back. FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) made
a beautiful crossover move in the left corner and passed to FY Jessica
Needham (E. Bridgewater, MA) who scored on a one-timer in the
second minute of play. SO Brianna Jordan (Scarborough,
ME) struck next, scoring her fourth goal of the season, assisted by
Call, off a corner kick by FY Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers,
MA). FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) scored her 13th
goal of the year in the 13th minute off perfect passes from SO Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) and FY Whitney Linindoll
(Paris, ME). JR Heather Stanger (Rockport, MA) put
the Monks up 4-0 in the 43rd minute when she scored off a cross pass
from JR Caitlin Foley (Wilmington, MA). Monks’
SO Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) executed a sweet one-timer
kick as she scored her 8th goal of the year in the 45th minute, assisted
by teammate FY Elizabeth McCarthy (Portsmouth, RI).
SO Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) wrapped up the
scoring for the SJCME Women when she notched her first goal of the season
on a booming kick from 20 yards out on the right side. The goal occurred
in the 85th minute of the game. Waterville, ME –
St. Joe’s GK SO Katie Mayo (Fairfield, ME) and
Colby College GK Loni Pisani (Kanata, Canada) each notched shutouts as
the Monks and the Mules faced off in a 0-0 tie in non-conference action
Wednesday afternoon. FY Mikayla

Jordan (Scarborough, ME) each posted four shots on net while
teammate SO Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) had three

The SJC Women’s Soccer Team was back in action Sunday facing GNAC
foe Albertus Magnus. The game was tied 0-0 until the 43rd minute when
Monks FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) scored her 12th
goal of the season off a pass from SR Jillian Leger (Westminster, MA).
FY Jessica Needham (E. Bridgewater, MA) scored her 5th
goal of the year in the 75th minute which was assisted by Call. JR Heather
Stanger (Rockport, MA) scored in the 81st minute to make the
final score 3-0. The goal was Stanger’s second of the season and
was unassisted. Boston, MA –
The Monks undefeated streak ended at 11 games after being defeated 3-2
in OT on Saturday by Emmanuel College. The Saints struck first when SO
Tiffany Dahlstrom scored in the 5th minute. The Monks tied it up in the
22nd minute when FY Jessica Needham (E. Bridgewater,
MA) scored her fourth goal of the season off a pass from FY Mikayla
Call (Portland, ME). In the 49th minute a Monks player was issued
a red card, meaning the SJC Women would be shorthanded for the remainder
of the contest. Standish, ME – SO Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) scored twice as the Monks cruised to a 7-1 win over Suffolk University. St. Joe’s stands at 11-0, 7-0 GNAC, while Suffolk is 0-7 overall and in the GNAC. FY Jessica Needham (East Bridgewater, MA) put St. Joe’s up with a goal in the 15th minute, assisted by SO Brianna Jordan (Scarborough, ME) and then returnedthe favor assisting on Jordan’s goal at 34:48. The Monks went up 3-0 after Jordan picked up another assist on a goal by FY Elizabeth McCarthy (Portsmouth, RI) in the 41st minute. Willis netted her first goal of the match at 51:11 off a pass from FY Whitney Linindoll (Paris, ME) to open the scoring in the second half. Five minutes later FY Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA) scored to put St. Joe’s up 5-0. Jamie Tracy recorded the Rams recorded only goal of the match at 67:03. SO Heidi Stucki (Oakland, ME) connected with FY Allie Smith (Belgrade, ME) to add an SJC goal. Willis capped off the Monks scoring with her second of the game off a pass from JR Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA).SJC plays at Emmanuel College on Saturday, October 6th at 3 PM. Standish, ME – The SJC women’s soccer squad continued its offensive production and stingy defense with an 8-0 win over visiting Rivier College. FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) and SO Heidi Stucki (Oakland, ME) each netted a pair of goals for St. Joe’s. The Monks are now 10-0, 6-0 GNAC while Rivier stands at 2-7, 1-5 GNAC. St. Joe’s got to work scoring early and often on Saturday, recording their first goal less than four minutes into the action and their last goal in the 52nd minute. Six different players scored and the Monks attempted 22 shots and took 8 corner kicks. Call notched the game winner at 3:07 off a pass from SO Brianna Jordan (Scarborough, ME). JR Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA), FY Whitney Linindoll (Paris, ME), JR Lindsay King (East Bridgewater, MA), and FY Jessica Needham (East Bridgewater, MA) all added goals. SO Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) picked up two assists. St. Joe’s hosts Suffolk on Wednesday, October 3rd at 3:30 PM. Standish, ME – Nine and counting. The SJC Women’s
soccer team racked up its ninth straight victory, beating Daniel Webster
College 8-0 today. The Monks improve to 9-0, 5-0 GNAC while Daniel Webster
stands at 0-7, 0-5 GNAC. Two Saint Joseph's College athletes were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for the week ending September 23, 2007: FY Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA) for women's soccer and SO Monique Lajoie (Nashua, NH) for volleyball. Theberge earned Rookie of the Week honors in women’s soccer after scoring the winning goal and adding an assist in a 3-0 win over Simmons last week. Boston, MA – Three second half goals
made the difference as Saint Joseph's College defeated Simmons College
3-0 for their eighth consecutive win of the season. The Monks improve
to 8-0, 4-0 GNAC while Simmons stands at 3-5-1, 2-1-0 GNAC. Newton, MA – The St. Joe’s women’s soccer
team continues to impress as the best start in program history continues
with a 1-0 win at Mount Ida College. The Monks are now 7-0 overall and
3-0 in the GNAC. Standish, ME – The Saint Joseph's College women’s
soccer team won its sixth straight match this past Sunday with a 6-0 win

College Monks. The Monks carried the play for the better part of the night,
but it took them 108 minutes to put away the pesky MMA squad. 9/11/07 - Monks Earn Weekly GNAC Honors Two Saint Joseph's College athletes were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for the week ending September 9, 2007 - Katye Mayo for women's soccer and Katie Murphy for women's cross country. (Portland, ME) registered two second half goals and SO Anna Willis
(Gorham, ME) scored the game winning goal and picked up a pair of assists.
St. Joe’s improves to 2-0 on the season while Johnson & Wales
drops to 0-5 overall. Standish, ME – The Saint Joseph's College women’s soccer team used an aggressive second half of play to record a 1-0 win over Southern Maine (0-2) in a non-conference match at St. Joe’s. FY Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, MA) scored the game-winner in the 53rd minute of the season opener. SJC SO keeper Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) had five saves while JR Mindy Morneault (Winterville, ME) had three for the Huskies in an exciting first half. The teams were not without chances in the first half as a shot by FY Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) just missed after hitting the left post. Theberge found the back of the net off an indirect kick to give the Monks the win. Mayo finished with seven saves and Morneault had five for the game. The Monks (1-0) host GNAC opponent Johnson & Wales on Saturday, September 8th at 1 p.m. while the Huskies play at Coast Guard on Saturday at 3 p.m.
