- Sharpshooter Rue Breaks Monks’ Single Season Mark

STANDISH, ME – Sophomore guard AlbertoRue
(Jamaica Plain, MA) has broken the Saint Joseph's College men’s
basketball single season record for three point percentage. Rue shot
55-116 from beyond the arc to post a 47.4% success rate on the season.
The record was previously held by Ryan Martin, who made 46.8 % of
his three-point attempts during the 1998-99 season.
Rue’s 55 three-pointers made this season places him in a tie
for 8th place in Monks basketball history for treys made in a single
season. Rue shares the 8th place ranking with former SJC greats Tyrone
White (1988-89) and Carl Howell (1998-99).
Rue’s long distance shooting percentage ranked 3rd in the Great
Northeast Athletic Conference and his 55 three-pointers made ranked
4th in the league. Overall, Rue, a 2008 GNAC Men’s Basketball
All-Tournament Team member, ranked third on the team with 11.6 points
per game.
The Monks saw their 2007-08 season come to an end with a 79-75 loss
to top-seeded Emerson College in a GNAC Tourney semifinal game on
February 28th. The Royal Blue finished the year with a 14-13 record.
