Jaimee is a junior two-sport athlete who was a tri-captain as a sophomore
on the 2008 women's lacrosse team. She is currently in her third season
as a member of the SJC field hockey team and plays for head coach Rupert
Lewis in both of her sports. Jaimee was named to the GNAC Women's Lacrosse
Sportsmanship Team last spring.
Coach Rupert Lewis on Jaimee: "We are fortunate
to have one of the two center midfielders returning our squad this year.
I am looking forward to Jaimee having a great year as she has challenged
herself and put in the time and commitment to perfect her craft over
the summer. Her experience and knowledge of this position and the formation
that we use should allow her to have tremendous impact and success in
every game. We look forward to Jaimee having her best season to date."
What was your first job?
Seeds of Peace International Camp, it is a summer camp for kids that
come from areas of the world where there is a lot of conflict.
Who would you like to trade places for a day with and why?
The President because I think it would be amazing to spend a day to
see what he has to do everyday to keep this country safe and functioning
What is on your “Bucket List?”
To be a spectator at both the Summer and Winter Olympics
Talent you’d most like to have:
I would like to be able to sing.
What do you drive?
Honda Accord
Do you have any superstitions before you go into a big game?
I always wear the same tank top under my uniform.
What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at SJC?
Being a captain for the Lacrosse team in its inaugural year and having
the opportunity to make the playoffs.
Who has had the greatest impact on your life?
Many of my teachers while I was in school; because of them I have decided
to become a teacher. They had an impact on my life and I want to have
the same on my own students someday.
Why did you choose Saint Joseph's College?
I chose St. Joe’s after an alumnus, who was a faculty member at
my high school, talked me into applying because she loved it here. She
knew some of the staff and they talked to me as well; then Coach Lewis
got in touch with me about Field Hockey and Lacrosse. The people were
so friendly and welcoming; I came to visit and enjoyed it. It was an
added bonus that it was not too far from home.
What are some of the aspects of St. Joe’s that you really
like?
I like St. Joe's because it is close to home so my family is able to
come watch me play. The friendly atmosphere from the faculty, staff
and students is comforting; people are willing to help each other here.
It is a close-knit community where people know your name or can recognize
your face.
Can you tell us something about you that most people don’t
know?
I am the fifth generation of my family to live in my house.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Teaching in a classroom in my school district and working on my masters
in Education Administration
If you could meet anyone (past or present) who would it be and
why?
Ben Franklin, because he did so much for the development of this country
and had a brilliant mind.
What are your hobbies?
Camping, mountain biking, swimming, and spending time with my extended
family
What is your ideal day away from your sport?
I love to watch movies but probably I would say spending the day with
my extended family on the lake or in Bar Harbor camping.
Do you see yourself playing field hockey or lacrosse after college?
Possibly, but I definitely see myself coaching.
What was it like being a member of the inaugural SJC Women’s
LAX team last spring?
It was great. We came together as a team. The enthusiasm from everyone
was a great burst of energy to feed off of. The girls are great and
enjoyable to be around. Also, the support from the college was a huge
bonus for the entire team.
How did the field hockey pre-season practice sessions go?
For the most part they went very well. It was a learning experience
and very fun. It's exciting to meet new people and the girls that are
going to help make the program stronger. We focused on the fundamentals
and learned from each other while adapting to everyone's style of play.
Please describe what it’s like to be on campus when most
of the students haven’t arrived yet:
Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. There are times when you don't want everyone
else to come back because the campus is so calm! However, it is also
exciting to have the people you know come back.
What goals to you have for yourself and your team this season?
This season I want to be consistent, confident, stress free and have
fun. I would like to see the team do as well as we did last year and
go even one step further. This year will be a little different and more
challenging because we are in a conference, but it will be more exciting.
