5/8/08 - Baseball: Monks Sweep Rams to Cap Regular Season
Andrew Keirstead STANDISH, ME – St. Joe’s (28-16) defeated Suffolk University (29-12) twice, 8-1 and 2-0, in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon to wrap up the regular season schedule. SO Ben Grant-Roy (Biddeford, ME) and JR Wade Oliver (Owls Head, ME) both connected for two-run home runs in the opener. In the nightcap, SO Andrew Keirstead (Westbrook, ME) tossed a complete game two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks to earn his sixth victory of the year. Read more
5/7/08 - Softball: St. Joe's Falls to Keene State in ECAC's
KEENE, NH - The #7 Lady Monks lost to #2 Keene State College on Wednesday, 4-0, in the team's first-ever ECAC Tournament game. Starting pitcher FY Kiera Walsh (Benton, ME) takes the loss after allowing 9 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 3 in five innings. FY Cat DeSimone (Waterboro, ME) had two hits in the loss. St. Joe's finishes the season with a 26-17 record. Read more

5/5/08 – SJC Softball Receives First Ever ECAC Tournament Bid
STANDISH, ME - The Saint Joseph's College softball team has been selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England tournament for the first time in school history. The Lady Monks earned the #7 seed in the eight-team tournament and will travel to Keene, N.H., to take on #2-seeded Keene State College on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 4:30 PM. Read more

5/3/08 - Softball: Lady Monks Close Out Season with Split
Alyssa Dunn WATERVILLE, ME - The SJC softball team split with NESCAC opponent Colby College on Saturday afternoon as the women lost the opener 7-1 and won the nightcap 9-5. JR Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME) recorded two hits in the first game and starter SO Christy Wezowicz (Granville, MA) was hit with the loss. FY Kiera Walsh (Benton, ME) helped pitch the Lady Monks to victory in game two and improved to 15-7 on the season and FY Alyssa Dunn (Standish, ME) hit a three-run homer in the first inning to help provide St. Joe's with a triumph in the team's final regular season contest. 5/3/08 - Baseball: Monks Swept by Lord Jeffs
AMHERST, MA - St. Joe's lost two games, 11-4 and 4-1, to NESCAC opponent Amherst College on Saturday afternoon to fall to 26-16 for the year. JR Wade Oliver (Owls Head, ME) had three hits for the Monks and starting pitchers FY Mason Roberge (Franklin, NH) and SO Mike Burdin (Gardiner, ME) take the losing decisions on the mound. Read more
5/1/08 - Baseball: Owls Clipped by Spiller Single in 10th
Dustin Spiller STANDISH, ME - Senior Dustin Spiller (Gorham, ME) hit a two-out single in the bottom of the 10th with bases loaded to drive in two runs and lift the Monks (26-14) past nationally ranked #16 Keene State (26-8), 5-4. Spiller was 3-5 in the game and JR Wade Oliver (Owls Head, ME) went 2-4 with an RBI in the important in-region victory. Starter SO Kyle Dorr (Berwick, ME) worked 6 innings, allowed one earned run while striking out five. SO Chris Nanof (Clinton, MA) earned his first collegiate win in relief. Read more

4/30/08 - Baseball: Huskies Nip Monks, 6-4
Brian SchoolsSTANDISH, ME – Huskies outfielder JR Anthony D’Alphonso (Westbrook, ME) hit a three-run home run in the third inning that proved to be the difference in a 6-4 St. Joe’s setback to in-state rival Southern Maine (26-10) on Wednesday evening. SR Brian Schools (Gorham, ME) and SO Ben Grant-Roy (Biddeford, ME) both notched three hits in the loss for Saint Joseph’s (25-14). With his sac bunt in the first inning, Schools registered his 41st career sacrifice hit, which breaks the NCAA Division III record. USM starting pitcher SR Adam Ross (Spruce Head, ME) struck out 9 and allowed 2 earned runs in 7 innings to improve to 4-3 on the season and Monks starter SO Andrew Keirstead (Westbrook, ME) allowed 11 hits and 6 earned run in 8.1 innings to fall to 5-2.
