PARENT/INFANT PROGRAMS
AGES 6 MONTHS TO 4 YEARS OLD
(with parents in the water)
• QUACKERS (ages 6 to 36 months)
A swim program designed to develop water adjustment through songs and
game play.
• POLLIWOGS (ages 36 months to 5 years)
This swim program is designed to help develop a comfort level in and
around the water as well as learning basic swim skills.
PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
AGES 4 TO 5 YEARS OLD
(without parents in the water)
• KINDERSWIM
A beginner class, children will experiment with blowing bubbles, putting
their face in the water, and moving their arms and legs so to move across
the water on their front & back, as well as a discussion on how to
be safe in & around the water.
• AQUAKIDS
This class is for children who are comfortable in the water and are able
to do the “doggie paddle” unassisted. Children will explore
retrieving objects under water, floating on their front & back, safe
diving, as well as getting their arms out of the water when they swim.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Ages 6 & up:
• Older Beginners:
This class is designed slightly older students (9-12 yrs) who may feel
uncomfortable learning to swim with younger children. Skills learned
are the same as in levels I &II.
• Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
There are no prerequisites for this course. The object of this level
is to help students fell comfortable in the water & enjoy the water
safely.
• Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
The object of level to is to give students success with fundamental skills.
Children learn how to float with out support & recover to a vertical
position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills, through
exploration of simultaneous or alternating arm & leg action on the
front & back to lay the foundation for future strokes.
• Level 3: Stroke Development
The object of this level is to build on the skills learned in level two
by providing additional guided practice. Students learn how to better
coordinate front & back crawl, as well as introduction to elements
of the butterfly stroke & fundamentals of treading water. As in all
levels additional safety skills are presented.
• Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Students entering this level must be able to demonstrate all the skill
requirements in level III. In this level students improve skills &
increase endurance in front & back crawl, build on the butterfly
stroke,
& introduction of elementary back stroke,, breast stroke,, and elements
of side stroke .Basics of turning at the wall are also introduced.
• Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Coordination & refinement are the objective at this level. Participants
refine performance in all strokes (front & back crawl, butterfly,
breast stroke elementary backstroke, & sidestroke. Flip turns on
front
& back are also introduced.
• Level 6: Swimming & Skill Proficiency
Swimming with more ease, efficiency, power, & smoothness over greater
distances is the goal. Level VI has “menu” options - personal
water safety, fitness swimming, & lifeguard readiness, each of these
options focus on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses
such as Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training, and other aquatic
activities such as competitive swimming.
• Adult Swim Lessons - Dates/times by
appointment.
Instruction is beginner, intermediate, or advanced skills. Call
for availability.
Advanced Classes - Dates and times TBA.
• Basic Water Rescue (11yrs old) - For
those who have completed level 4. Focuses on safety, endurance, technique,
and rescues.
• Community Water Safety- Must have completed level
5. Focuses on safety awareness, rules of water safety, emergencies, technique & endurances.
• Guard Start- Must be 11yrs old, have completed level
4 and be able to swim 25 yards. Building foundation of skills and attitudes
of future lifeguards.
• Water Safety Aids- Must gave completed level 6, have
excellent strokes and a desire to help teachers with swim lessons.
• Lifeguard Training- Must be 15 yrs old and pass an
endurance test.
• Water Safety Instructor- Must be 17 by the last day
of class & be able to meet all the skill requirements of Level 4. (30 hours
of training is needed for this class.

Lesson Schedule
Please be sure to choose the correct class for your
child and for your schedule! A $5 administrative fee will be assessed
if a class is changed at any point after registration.
If you are unsure which level your child should be in, please call
the Aquatics office for an evaluation or to set up a screening.
