STANDISH, ME - Volleyball Head Coach John Raza has announced the 2007 Volleyball team award winners. Sophomore Monique Lajoie (Nashua, NH) has been named as the team's Most Valuable Player. Freshman Mary Hoyt (Rochester, NH) was honored as the Rookie of the Year after posting a solid opening campaign. Hoyt also earned the Top Server Award after finishing the year averaging 1.17 service aces per game, good for fifth in the country! Freshman Lindsay McCarthy (Waterville, ME) was named as the team's Most Improved Player and junior Amanda Ruel (Biddeford, ME) was honored with the GNAC Sportsmanship Award.



10/27/07 - St. Joe's Drops two in Tri-Match

WEST HAVEN, CT - The Saint Joseph's College Volleyball team played in a Tri-Match at Albertus Magnus College against GNAC opponents Albertus Magnus and Emmanuel College.

The Monks gave the Albertus Magnus Falcons all they could handle in the first match, going five games in a 3-2 loss. (30-26, 25-30, 30-11, 28-30, 7-15). FY Mary Hoyt (Rochester, NH) posted a triple-double with 14 digs, 11 aces and a season/career high of 23 kills in the match. SO Monique Lajoie (Nashua, NH) continued her strong play with a season high total of 34 assists. JR Amanda Ruel (Biddeford, ME) also posted a career high in the match with her 25 digs. SR Brooke Perry (Biddeford, ME) put forth a solid effort with 11 kills, 5 aces and 6 digs.

St. Joe's faced the Emmanuel College Saints in the second match and fell 3-0 (30-20, 30-19, 30-18). Monique Lajoie had 8 digs in the contest while Amanda Ruel added 6 digs. SR Captain Brooke Perry posted 4 kills and 4 digs in her final game.


10/23/07 – Rookie Hoyt Earns GNAC Honors

Freshman Mary Hoyt (Rochester, NH/Spaulding HS) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for Volleyball.

For the week Hoyt collected 65 digs in 4 games for Saint Joseph's College for an average of 16.3 per game. She also delivered 11 service aces for the week and as of 10/7 Hoyt was ranked 6th in the nation with 1.21 service aces per game.
