- Brett Named to GNAC Sportsmanship Squad
STANDISH,
ME – Sophomore tri-captain Jaimee Brett
(Otisfield, ME/Oxford Hills) has been named to the 2008 Great Northeast
Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team.
St. Joe’s Co-Head Coach Rupert Lewis:
“Jaimee Brett has consistently demonstrated the values of respect,
caring, fairness, honesty and integrity as player on and off the field.
Jaimee is the epitome of what this award represents. She is always
the first to subdue a teammate that is caught up in the intensity
of the game. She is always positive and reassuring with all her teammates
and is always the first to volunteer for additional team duties. As
a team captain she has been reliable and forthcoming. Her caring and
sportsmanship have not gone unnoticed as she has been consistently
complimented by referees.”

- Pair Named to GNAC Honor Roll
STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference
has released its weekly honor roll and two St. Joe's women's lacrosse
players receive mention. SO Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) and FY Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) both are on the weekly list for their performance
in games played during the April 21-27 reporting period.
Hagerman netted 5 goals, 2 assists, 10 groundballs
and 3 caused turnovers in two games games last week. She scored 3
goals in last week's GNAC Tournament semifinal loss to regular season
champion Emerson College and was named to the All-Tournament team
for her play. Hagerman scored 34 goals and registered 21 assists for
55 points in the program's initial season.
Marchant scored six goals in the pair of games last
week, including 4 against Castleton State on April 27th. She netted
two goals against Emerson College in the GNAC tourney and was also
named to the All-Tournament team. Marchant scored 46 goals recorded
60 total points to lead the first-year varsity team in scoring.
4/28/08
- Two Named to GNAC All-Tournament Team
STANDISH,
ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has named its 2008 Women's
Lacrosse All-Tournament Team and sophomore Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) and freshman Alyssa
Marchant (Wakefield, MA) have been tabbed with honors.
Hagerman tallied three goals, an assist and six groundballs
in the 14-7 playoff loss to Emerson on April 23rd. Overall this season
she scored 34 goals
and tallied 21 assists for 55 points in 12 games.
Marchant scored a pair of goals in tourney setback
to Emerson and led the team in scoring this season with 46 goals and
added 14 assists for 60 total points.
4/27/08
- St. Joe's Falls to Castleton, 20-9
CASTLETON,
VT - St. Joe's (5-8, 2-3) lost to Castleton State (9-6) on Sunday,
20-9, in the final game of the program's first season. Goalkeeper
FY Chynna Nicholas (Acushnet, MA)
made 17 saves and FY Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) scored four goals, SO Vanessa Brooks
(Bath, ME) netted three goals and SO Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) added two goals, an assist and four groundballs
in the loss.
FY Lizzie Farley (Scarborough, ME)
and SO Katie Dedian (Scarborough,
ME) both recorded assists and FY Logan Ryley
(Leominster, MA) collected two groundballs for St. Joe's in the losing
effort.
Marie VanDerKar and Nicole Bouchard both netted five goals in the
win for Castleton State.

– Four St. Joe’s Women’s Lacrosse Players Named
GNAC All-Conference
STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference
has announced its 2008 Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Teams
and four Saint Joseph's College (5-7, 2-3 GNAC) players have been
named to the Second Team.
Sophomore attackers Heidi Stucki
(Oakland, ME/Messalonskee HS) and Vanessa Brooks
(Bath, ME/Morse HS) both received honors as well as sophomore defenders
Ana Alejandro (Manchester, NH/Manchester
Memorial) and Claire Cook (Sangerville,
ME/Piscataquis Community).
The Saint Joseph's College women’s lacrosse team will wrap up
its inaugural season with a game at Castleton State (VT) on Sunday
April 27th at 1:00 PM.
4/23/08
- Marchant Listed on GNAC Honor Roll for Third Time
STANDISH,
ME - Freshman Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield,
MA) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Weekly
Honor Roll for the third time this year for her play last week (4/14-4/20).
Marchant received the honor on March 24th and April 10th and was also
named as the GNAC Rookie of the Week on April 14th.
The freshman helped propel St. Joe's to a 2-0 week with eleven goals
and five assists in wins over Thomas College on April 16th and GNAC
rival Pine Manor College on April 19th.
Marchant is the team's leading scorer this season with 42 goals and
14 assists for 56 points through 12 games.
The St. Joe's women's lacrosse team (5-7, 2-3 GNAC) has one game remaining
on its schedule in the programs first season as the women will travel
to Castleton State (VT) on Sunday, April 27th to take on the Spartans
in a 1:00 PM contest.
4/23/08
- St. Joe's Falls in GNAC Quarterfinal, 14-7
BOSTON, MA - Top seed and host team Emerson College
defeated Saint Joseph's (5-7, 2-3 GNAC) 14-7 in a GNAC women's lacrosse
quarterfinal game on Wednesday evening. SO Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) led St. Joe's with three
goals and FY Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield,
MA) added two scores in the team's first playoff game in its initial
season.
FY Sarah Hale (Berwick, ME) and
SO Vanessa Brooks (Bath, ME) also
tallied goals for St. Joe's and goalkeeper FY Chynna
Nicholas (Acushnet, MA) made 17 saves in the losing
effort.
Hagerman collected six groundballs and SO Nicole
D'Atri (Charlestown, NH), FY Sheila
Brennick (Bath, ME) and SO Claire
Cook (Sangerville, ME) all picked up three groundballs
in the game.
Freshman Laura Miley (Cranston, RI) led the way offensively for Emerson
College with six goals and teammate Katie Peters (Acton, MA) added
four tallies in the victory. The Lions will host #2 Norwich University
in the GNAC Championship game on Saturday, April 26th at 3:30.
St. Joe's will play the final game of their inaugural season at Castleton
State (VT) on Sunday April 27th at 1:00 PM.
4/21/08
- St. Joe's Falls to Norwich in Home Opener, 21-9
STANDISH,
ME - Saint Joseph's College (5-6, 2-3 GNAC) lost to conference rival
Norwich University (VT) (9-4, 4-1 GNAC) on Monday afternoon in the
first women's lacrosse game ever played on the SJC campus. FY Alyssa
Marchant (Wakefield, MA) scored 5 goals and SO Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) netted 3 goals in the
losing bid. St. Joe's goalkeeper FY Chynna Nicholas
(Acushnet, MA) made 10 saves in the game. SO Vanessa
Brooks (Bath, ME) also notched a tally in the loss.
Saint Joseph's earned the #4 seed in the GNAC playoffs and will play
at #1 seed Emerson College on Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:00 PM.
4/21/08 -
St. Joe's Earns Playoff Berth in Inaugural Season
STANDISH, ME - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team
(5-5, 2-2 GNAC) earned the #4 seed in the conference and will travel
to Boston, MA on Wednesday April 23rd to play #1 seed Emerson College
(12-3, 5-0 GNAC) in the semi-final round of the GNAC playoffs. The
game will be played at Rotch
Field and is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
4/19/08
- St. Joe's Defeats Pine Manor, 16-8
CHESTNUT
HILL, MA - The SJC women's lacrosse team (5-5, 2-2 GNAC) defeated
Pine Manor College (0-11, 0-4 GNAC) 16-8 on Saturday afternoon. FY
Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield, MA)
led the way offensively with 5 goals and FY Sarah
Hale (Berwick, ME) netted 4 goals in the victory.
SO Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough,
ME) scored three goals, SO Vanessa Brooks
(Bath, ME) scored twice and SO Heidi Stucki
(Oakland, ME) and SO Katie Dedian
(Scarborough, ME) both scored one goal apiece in the victory. Goalkeeper
FY Chynna Nicholas (Acushnet, MA)
made five saves and her personal record improves to 3-1 with the win
between the pipes.
Besides contributing on the scoreboard, Marchant
collected 7 groundballs and caused five turnovers in the game.
4/16/08
- St. Joe's Defeats Thomas College, 14-8
WATERVILLE, ME - Saint Joseph's College (4-5, 1-2 GNAC)
trailed 6-0 after 10 minutes of play but battled back to defeat Thomas
College (2-7) 14-8 in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.
FY Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield, MA)
scored 6 goals and added 2 assists and SO Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) netted 4 goals in the
victory.
Marchant opened the scoring for St. Joe's with a
tally at the 18:43 mark as the Lady Monks went on to score nine unanswered
goals to take the lead going into halftime.
St. Joe's outscored the Terriers 5-2 in the second half to secure
the 14-8 victory.
For St. Joe's, FY Lilly Rodden (Lebanon,
ME) scored 2 goals and FY Sarah Hale
(Berwick, ME) and SO Katie Dedian
(Scarborough, ME) each scored a goal. Hale and Marchant
both collected 4 groundballs in the win and goalkeeper FY Chynna
Nicholas (Acushnet, ME) made 14 saves to improve
her individual record to 2-1 for the season.
Terriers midfielder Julia Nyitray (Farmingdale, ME) scored four goals
in the loss.
St. Joe's will play at GNAC rival Pine Manor College on Saturday April
19th at 3:00 PM.

- Marchant Named GNAC Rookie of the Week
STANDISH,
ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced its
weekly award honorees and Saint Joseph's College freshman midfielder
Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield, MA)
has been named the Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.
In a 1-1 week for St. Joe’s, Marchant recorded 6 goals and 7
assists and tallied 5 goals and 7 assists in a win over non-conference
opponent Green Mountain College (VT) on April 12th.
Marchant is leading St. Joe’s (3-5, 1-2 GNAC) in scoring this
season with 24 goals and 8 assists in 8 games.
4/12/08
- Lady Monks Soar Past Lady Eagles, 21-4
PORTLAND, ME - The Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse team earned
their third win of the season on Saturday evening when they defeated
Green Mountain College (VT) 21-4 at Fitzpatrick Stadium. FY Alyssa
Marchant (Wakefield, MA) tallied 5 goals and 7 assists
and teammate SO Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) registered 4 goals and 6 assists in the lopsided
victory.
St. Joe's scored six consecutive goals in the opening seven-and-a-half
minutes to gain an early 6-0 cushion on the scoreboard. The Lady Monks
played a clean transition game by converting all 11 of the team's
clear attempts to help prevent a comeback attempt by the Lady Eagles.
Including Marchant and Hagerman,
eight different players found the back of the net for St. Joe's in
the game. SO Vanessa Brooks (Bath,
ME) scored 3 goals and FY Sarah Hale
(Berwick, ME), FY Lizzie Farley
(Scarborough, ME) and SO Heidi Stucki
(Oakland, ME) each tallied 2 goals and an assist. SO Katie

- Marchant Named to Weekly Conference Honor Roll
STANDISH,
ME - Saint Joseph's freshman Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference
Weekly Honor Roll for her play during the 3/31-4/6 reporting period.
In a 1-2 week for the SJC women's lacrosse team, Marchant scored 8
goals, including 5 in the program's first conference victory over
St. Joseph College of Connecticut on April 6th.
Marchant is the team's leading goal scorer with 19 goals through 7
games this season.
4/10/08
- Salve Regina Defeats St. Joe's, 18-6
NEWPORT, RI - Saint Joseph's was defeated by non-conference
opponent Salve Regina (RI), 18-6, on Thursday afternoon. SO Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) scored 2 goals and collected
5 groundballs in the loss. St. Joe's falls to 2-5 on the season with
the defeat.

- St. Joe's Earns First Conference Victory
NEW
HAVEN, CT - The upstart Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse team
earned its first GNAC victory on Sunday when the team defeated St.
Joseph College (CT) 15-6. FY Alyssa Marchant
scored 5 goals and SO Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) and FY Lizzie Farley
(Scarborough, ME) both netted 3 goals in the historic victory. With
the win, St. Joe's improves to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in GNAC play.
SJC goalkeeper SO Jackie Zaccardo
(Reading, MA) turned away 11 of the 17 shots she faced to earn her
second win of the season. FY Sarah Hale
(Berwick, ME) collected an incredible 13 groundballs in the game and
added 2 goals and an assist to her stat line. FY Lilly
Rodden (Lebanon, ME) and SO Heidi
Stucki (Oakland, ME) both scored goals in the victory.
St. Joe's outshot the Blue Jays, 27-20, and collected 58 groundballs
as a team while St. Joseph (CT) tallied 45 groundballs.
St. Joe's will travel to Newport, Rhode Island to take on TCCC opponent
Salve Regina University. The game is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.

- St. Joe's Defeated by Emerson in GNAC Contest
PORTLAND,
ME - The Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse team falls to 1-4
overall and 1-2 in GNAC play this season after a 20-5 loss to GNAC
opponent Emerson College on Saturday. FY Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) scored 3 goals and SO Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) netted 2 goals in the setback.
For St. Joe's,
Hagerman also tallied 2 assists and SO Jaimee
Brett (Otisfield, ME) registered an assist, 3 groundball
and 2 caused turnovers. SO goalie Jackie Zaccardo
(Reading, MA) made 8 stops in the losing effort.
Emerson College
was led by SR Jessie Kalikow (Chestnut Hill, MA) with 6 goals and
FY Maeghan Ross (Wrentham, MA) tallied 4 goals and 6 assists for the
Lions. St. Joe's falls to 1-4 overall, 0-2 in GNAC play with the loss.

- Southern Maine Defeats St. Joe's 20-3
PORTLAND, ME - St. Joe's and Southern Maine were tied at one goal apiece
after nearly six minutes of play, but the Huskies rattled off 18 consecutive
goals to clinch a lopsided victory. SO Vanessa Brooks
(Bath, ME), SO Jaimee Brett (Otisfield, ME) and FY
Lilly Rodden (Lebanon, ME) accounted for the SJC goals
in the loss.
For St. Joe's, FY Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) collected 5 groundballs and steered 3 shots on goal
and SO Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough,
ME) tallied 3 shots on net, 3 groundballs and 2 caused turnovers. SO
Ana Alejandro (Manchester, NH) also
collected 3 groundballs and SO goalkeeper Jackie Zaccardo
(Reading, MA) made 11 saves in the loss.
For Southern Maine, FY Kristy Kendrick (Waterboro, ME) scored 6 goals
and Jessica Knight (Alfred, ME) registered 5 goals and 2 assists in
the Huskies win.
St. Joe's will host GNAC opponent Emerson College on Saturday April
5th at 1:oo PM. The game will be played on the University
of New England campus in Biddeford, ME.

- Hagerman Named to Conference Weekly Honor Roll
STANDISH,
ME - Sophomore midfielder Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference
Weekly Honor Roll for her play in games during the 3/24-3/30 week.
For the week, Hagerman tallied 8 goals, 4 assists,
3 caused turnovers and 9 groundballs. She scored 4 goals and added 2
assists and 6 groundballs in the program's first victory, a 19-9 win
over Becker College (MA) on March 24th. The sophomore midfielder also
scored 4 goals in a 22-11 setback to Lasell College (MA) on March 29th.
3/29/08
- St. Joe's Loses GNAC Opener, 22-11
NEWTON, MA - The St. Joe's women's lacrosse team (1-2,
0-1 GNAC) played Lasell College (3-4, 2-0 GNAC) in the team's GNAC
opener on Saturday and lost, 22-11. SO Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) tallied 4 goals and 2 assists and FY Alyssa
Marchant (Wakefield, MA) scored 3 goals in the loss.
Hagerman and SO Jaimee Brett (Otisfield,
ME) both scored goals in the first three minutes of the game to provide
St. Joe's with an early 2-0 lead. Lasell fired back in the following
four minutes with three consecutive goals to gain a 3-2 advantage.
The game was was tied at four apiece after Alyssa
Marchant netted two SJC goals, the last with 16:17
to play in the opening half. After the Lasers regained the lead thirty
seconds later, SO Vanessa Brooks
(Bath, ME) scored to knot the game at five apiece with 15:02 left
in the first half.
Lasell rattled off five unanswered goals, four from Caitlyn Murphy,
to take a 10-5 lead with 9:00 to go before the break. St. Joe's trailed
the Lasers 11-6 going into halftime.
FY Sarah Hale (Berwick, ME) scored
at the 18:15 mark to make the score 14-9 Lasell and Hagerman
scored her fourth goal of the contest to keep SJC within striking
distance, 16-11, with 9:25 left to play. Lasell managed to score six
unanswered goals in the final nine minutes of play to earn a 22-11
conference victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Zaccardo
(Reading, MA) made 18 saves in the game for St. Joe's.
JR Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) scored 11 goals in the victory for
Lasell College.
St. Joe's will host in-state rival Southern Maine on Wednesday, 4/2
at 7:30 PM. The game will be played at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland,
ME.

- Rookie Marchant Named to GNAC Weekly Honor Roll
STANDISH,
ME - Freshman midfielder Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference
Weekly Honor Roll for her play during the 3/17-3/23 reporting period.
During the week, Marchant scored four goals, including
the first goal in Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse history,
in a loss to the University of New England on March 18th. The freshman
scored the historic goal at the 12:36 mark of the first half. Marchant
also collected two groundballs and caused two turnovers in the game.

- St. Joe's Defeats Becker for Program's First Win

WORCESTER, MA - The Saint
Joseph's College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Becker College 19-9
on Monday evening to earn the first win in program history. Seven different
players scored goals for the first year varsity squad in the win. Sophomores
Vanessa Brooks (Bath, ME) and Lauren
Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) each netted four goals and
sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Zaccardo
(Reading, MA) made 7 saves in the winning effort.
The game was tied 3-3 with 17:59 remaining in the first half before
St. Joe's rattled off 12 unanswered goals to take a commanding 15-3
lead going into intermission.
Becker College outscored St. Joe's 6-4 in the second half but was unable
to mount a serious comeback effort as the Royal Blue rolled to a 19-9
victory.
For St. Joe's, FY Sarah Hale (Berwick,
ME) notched 3 goals and 2 assists and FY Alyssa Marchant
(Wakefield, MA) scored 3 goals and tallied one assist and 8 groundballs.
FY Lizzie Farley (Scarborough, ME)
and FY Lilly Rodden (Lebanon, ME)
both scored 2 goals. SO Katie Dedian
(Scarborough, ME) chipped in with a goal to wrap up the SJC scoring.
SO Jaimee Brett (Otisfield, ME) tallied
2 assists and 4 groundballs, Brooks added 3 assists
and Hagerman collected 2 assists and 6 groundballs
in the victory.
FY Tammy Mullen (Pottstown, PA) scored 5 goals for Becker College.
St. Joe's will travel to Newton, MA to play GNAC opponent Lasell College
in the program's inaugural conference game on Saturday, 3/29. The game
is slated to begin at 12:00 PM.
3/18/08 - St. Joe's Falls
to UNE in Opener, 22-5
Weston, MA – The SJC women’s lacrosse
team wrapped up its season of competition with a three-team play day at
Regis College on Sunday. The Monks went 2-0 on the day with a 15-3 win
over Becker College and a 9-7 win over Regis.
FY Jessica Baker (Scarborough,
ME) and FY Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) led the
St. Joe’s attack and tallied numerous goals. Coach Rupert Lewis
was pleased with the performance of his new squad and has a solid foundation
for the fall.
St. Joe's will compete as an NCAA DIII varsity
team starting in the 2007-08 academic year.
3/19/07 - Monks Down Terriers
Waterville, ME – The Saint Joseph's College
women’s lacrosse team dominated in a practice scrimmage on Sunday
against Thomas College. It was the first game against outside competition
for the new squad. The Monks were led by FY Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) and FY Jessica Baker (Scarborough,
ME).
St. Joe’s will compete as an NCAA Division III team
in women’s lacrosse next season, 2007-08.
