January 2012 begins the celebration of Saint Joseph's Centennial and the remarkable journey that transformed this college from its roots on Walton Street in Portland to the thriving community that we are today - an institution on campus in Standish, Maine, and online around the world.
The Centennial celebrations spans many events during the year, and we invite every member of our community to celebrate in his or her own way; whether attending a lecture, gala, concert or home athletic game, joining in the celebrations during Winter Carnival or Alumni Weekend, or by sharing this website with your friends and family.
In 1912, the Sisters of Mercy at Catherine McAuley High School began instruction with the class of students that would become the first graduates of Saint Joseph's College. This first year was the genesis of our college's tradition of nurturing intellectual, spiritual and social growth in students of all ages and all faiths within a values-centered environment.
The continued growth of Saint Joseph's is a testament to the Sisters of Mercy and their dedication to academic excellence rooted in faith.
I invite you to explore the Centennial website to learn more about the exciting events of the centennial year and to explore Saint Joseph's past, present, and future as never before. Share your story of how Saint Joseph's changed your life for the Mercy Memories page, email your favorite photos for inclusion on the photo board, attend one of our many Centennial celebrations on and off campus, but most importantly, I invite you to be involved in this momentous occasion for the college, and you, the Saint Joseph's College community.
Sincerely,

Honorable Kenneth Lemanski, J.D.
Interim President
