5k to fight obesity treks across the trails

On Saturday, June 29, the cross-country trails at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish will be filled with runners and walkers for the Trek Against Obesity 5k Race & Kids’ Fun Run. The event was planned by students from the fourth- through seventh-grade classes at Windham Raymond School Age Child Care program, who have been working to raise awareness of childhood obesity. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Diabetes Association.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with the kids’ fun run. At 9:55, Susie Stauble Pepper (Miss Maine 2009) will sing the national anthem. The official start of the 5k will be at 10 a.m.
