AARP Maine is interested in recruiting a great intern to work in their Portland office.
The internship involves communication initiatives directed toward AARP members, legislators, and the public. This includes, but is not limited to, public relations, message design, and many written projects including press releases, Op-Eds, weekly columns, website features, letters to the editor and outreach through social media.
Interns will gain valuable experience and work in a team environment. They will also receive first-hand knowledge of how one of America’s largest non-profit organizations, dedicated to enriching the lives of older Americans, develops and conveys its message to almost 38 million members across the nation. Here in Maine, we have 230,000 AARP members and our work spans the entire state.
Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in advocacy and outreach campaigns, expand their knowledge of communication processes in the field and work with our volunteers.
Hours are flexible. This is a paid internship – funds TBD but should be approximately $10/hour.
Requirements: Must be current enrolled student in a degree program. Must have excellent communication, organizational, writing, and computer skills; Internet savvy; ability to work with volunteers and staff. Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, be part of a team, and exercise initiative.
