Announcing apointment of Gray woman to nursing faculty

Suellen Chaplin-Beckett of Gray has joined the nursing faculty at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, where she will teach mental health nursing and contribute to the community, leadership and holistic curriculum. She currently practices as a child and adolescent psychiatric/mental health clinical nurse specialist.

She has an extensive background in undergraduate and graduate teaching and in clinical practice at community health centers and in private practice. She also has expertise in expressive arts therapies. Chaplin-Beckett has provided mental health consultation for grieving children and their families, as well as for residential substance abuse programs, Head Start centers and other educational programs. She also developed and directed a crisis service for a mental health center in Portland, Ore.

Chaplin-Beckett earned her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Maryland and her master's-level nurse practitioner degree at Oregon Health Sciences University.
