Saint Joseph’s College will offer a four-hour Red Cross Basic Water Rescue course on June 19 that will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to many types of aquatic emergencies.
This course is designed for daycare/child providers or any individual taking care of persons on or around a body of water. The course covers “throw, don’t go method,” wading assists, pool safety and checklist, beach and lake safety. The Basic Water Rescue does not provide knowledge and skills needed to be certified as a lifeguard. The course is DHHS-State of Maine approved and offers a 3-year certificate.
The class runs on June 19 from 5:30-9:30 p.m., at the Harold Alfond Center pool at the Standish campus. The cost is $45 per person (group discounts available). Contact 893-6615 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register.
