Kids can wear their pajamas and enjoy the reading of a good book, along with fun activities and snacks as elementary education majors from Saint Joseph's College present a "Bedtime Stories" program. Children from area schools, grades K-3, are invited to attend this free event, to be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 13. The theme for that date is celebrating Earth Day. Children will listen to stories read by Saint Joseph's students, enjoy crafts, games and a themed snack.
Sponsored through the Saint Joseph's chapter of Student Education Association of Maine (SEAM), each program will feature books and related activities that reflect seasonal themes. Anne Becker, elementary education major and SEAM president, says, "This is an exciting and productive experience for our members. Everyone is excited to help the children develop reading skills outside of the classroom and have some fun."
Dates and themes for the future include Wednesday, April 27 (All About Bugs). The project is funded by a grant from the National Education Association's student program.
The events will be held in the first-floor lounge at the Harold Alfond Center. Don't forget a blanket or your favorite teddy bear. No registration necessary. 893-7723.
