The Cumberland County Intern will have the opportunity to work with the volunteer committee of experts in many related fields, including media, finance, tourism, government and business.
The person would report to Bill Whitten, Assistant County Manager. There will be office space provided, as well as a lap top computer for the students use during the internship.
Some of the duties, but not complete would include: taking notes at meetings, preparing group emails, maintaining contact with the committee, meeting and talking with associated towns, businesses and organizations for development of the anniversary plans, assisting with a business plan and marketing plan development and implementation, understanding and working with the finances related to a project this size, and having the opportunity for exposure to the business and government community throughout the county.
Bill Whitten has a thirty year background in media sales and management and has been with County Government for four years. The student will also have the opportunity to work with him to understand county government, marketing and PR and budgeting, along with several other duties.
Hours and days can be worked out with the student, within some guidelines. Mileage will be paid, with a $500 stipend.
