Saint Joseph’s College has appointed Mark Hibben of South Portland as an assistant professor of political science. A graduate of the University of Maine, Hibben earned a Master of Arts in International Studies/International Political Economy from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. He is finishing his doctorate degree at the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and has been an instructor at the University of Maine for the last four years.
Hibben’s research interests include globalization and development, international political economy, Latin American politics and the politics of poverty and inequality. His field research and dissertation focused on International Monetary Fund policy in regard to low-income countries.
