Education majors offer Bedtime Stories program for young children

Elementary education majors are again offering their Bedtime Stories program to children in grades K-3 this fall and are introducing a Family Night program as well.

Both events, sponsored by the Student Educators Association of Maine (SEAM) chapter, feature education majors reading books and presenting activities. Children are welcome to come in their pajamas and bring their teddy bears and blankets. Snacks will be provided.

The first Bedtime Stories program is Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 6-7:30 p.m., and features a Thanksgiving theme. The date for the December holiday-themed program is Wednesday, Dec. 8.

On Family Night, both children and parents are invited to listen to stories, participate in games and crafts, and learn more about the first semester's theme, Healthy Bodies, Happy Kids! The program runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Nicole Chapdelaine, vice president of the campus SEAM chapter, says, "We're excited to help children develop a love for reading in a relaxed, safe, and comfy environment outside of school. It really benefits everyone."

All events take place in the Harold Alfond Center. Call 893-7723 for more information. No registration necessary.
