American Dead is a play that takes place in a small mid-western town being run down by the Great Depression. All over town, businesses are closing, including the bank. The bar is the only place in town that actually seems to be open.
The story is about a middle aged man named Lewie Froah coming to terms with the death of his sister, Grace Tisdale, who was the town’s Deputy before she was killed almost two years earlier. Two of Lewie’s friends are moving away, leaving him with only Bill, the bartender, and Alan, the hotheaded sheriff. The town then seems a little less lonely when a quiet man, Dennis Rescola shows up.
