Fox 23 - Production and Promotion Internships

FOX23 offers internships to students attending a two or four year college or university, majoring in a broadcasting related field of study. Preference will be given to students nearing graduation.  Interns are required to receive school credit for their time at the station. All internships are unpaid and may only be taken for school credit. Your College Advisor or Internship Coordinator will be required to certify your eligibility for academic credit. Internships are from 6 to 8 weeks and will depend on your schools requirements and the workload at the station.

Objectives:
To give students hands-on experience at a television station who have an interest in broadcasting, marketing, communications, the media & television websites.

Responsibilities:
Interns will be assigned to the department(s) that will oversee their internship. Responsibilities will be determined after assessing abilities and may increase as the intern progresses.

Requirements:

• Students must receive school credit for participation as an intern.
• Intern at least 6 hours per week - may include weekends depending on the department.
• May spend some time outside the station and represent FOX23 while on duty.
• Show up as scheduled and demonstrate initiative.

Production Interns

• Will work on commercial and station production projects.
• Will learn set-up and break down of a field and studio shoot.
• Will produce one spot from idea process to finish for on-air.
• Will work in conjunction with promotion department.

Promotion & Marketing Interns

• Will learn to log promos & locating promo avail times
• Will assist in station or sales promotions outside of the station.
• Will have basic administrative duties.
• May assist with field shoots.
• May deal with the public.
• May work in conjunction with production.

Website Interns:

• Will moderate blogs.
• Update the stations website with stories and video.
• May submit news or community interest stories for the web.

Engineering Interns

• Will work with the chief engineer and his assistant.
• Will learn to run the master control on-air board.
• May be able to repair some equipment.
