The Maine Mineralogical and Geological Society presents its 30th Annual Gem & Mineral Show at Saint Joseph’s College on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21. With thousands of breathtaking items on view and for sale, it is the largest show of its kind in the state.
This year’s show has more than 25 vendors showcasing jewelry, gemstones, minerals, crystals, fossils, meteorites and fluorescent specimens. Attendees can participate in gold panning, gem cutting and wire-wrapping demonstrations, bid on silent auctions, and win hourly door prizes. Children can dig for treasures in the mini-mine, claim prizes on the spin wheel and encounter firsthand some of the more interesting and unusual rocks and minerals at the education table.
The Gem & Mineral Show is a fun and educational way to embrace the geological treasures of our planet – the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day weekend.
The show will be held in the Harold Alfond Center at Saint Joseph’s Standish campus from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, and children 12 and under are admitted for free. The price of admission includes entrance into the Grand Prize Raffle to be held at the end of the show. Also, all children will receive a free gift bag upon leaving the show.
