Heading the Call: Adventures of the Spirit on El Camino de Santiago

January 26, Karen Lemke Memorial Lecture

with Kate Campbell Strauss, 2 p.m., Maine Irish Heritage Center, 34 Gray St., Portland

For more than a thousand years, pilgrims have traveled to Spain's Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, believed to house the relics of Saint James the Apostle. In 2011, Kate Campbell Strauss completed a thousand-mile solo pilgrimmage across France and Spain on the Camino de Santiago, joining almost 200,000 people who received a certificate of pilgrimmage that year. Strauss will relive her four-month-long journey, illustrated by her photographs.

Kate Campbell Strauss works in Portland where she is also a private music instructor and tutor.
