The Institute for Civic Leadership is seeking candidates for a Communications Assistant Intern position.
This Internship will provide a qualified student with practical, hands-on experience to learn on-the-job skills in communications, marketing, public relations and special events, and apply those skills for a Portland-based, nonprofit leadership Institute.
Additional benefits can include: earning academic credit through the student’s college; resume-building experience; the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced communications specialist; and exposure to the ICL leadership programs and alumni network. Specific learning goals for this Internship will be determined in collaboration with the student and academic advisors.
Good verbal and written communications are required; computer and organizational skills; social media knowledge; and familiarity with website content management and manipulating digital images. The ideal candidate is creative, upbeat, and responsible to work independently as well as part of a team; and professional when promoting awareness of the Institute for Civic Leadership. ICL staff and alumni enjoy working together and seek someone with strong motivation and a sense of humor. The position is unpaid. Hours are flexible and negotiable. No experience required in fundraising (development). This position directly supports and is supervised/mentored by the Director of Development and Communications.
