Saint Joseph’s College will offer a lifeguard training review course on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Harold Alfond Recreation Center on the Standish campus.
Both classes must be attended, and participants must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid/CPR/AED course certificate. Proof of prior training is required at the start of the class. Participants must also be able to: swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing; complete a 20-yard back-and-forth swim with a surface dive to retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 7-10 feet in less than one minute and 40 seconds; and tread water for two minutes using only the legs. Participants must bring a valid picture I.D. and a CPR mask.
The cost for the review course is $160. Please contact 893-6615 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to register. If a class is needed on a different day, Saint Joseph’s can create a class at another time if there are four interested people.
