Candidates considered with the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated academic achievements
  • Strong desire for a career in professional sports and entertainment

The Communications/Office Internship will include, but is not limited to, a variety of tasks and projects as outlined below:

  • Daily web updates (general updates, game stories, game advances, multimedia content, etc.) on portlandpirates.com and several other local sites
  • Assist in the development and production of the Pirates Official Yearbook and Pirates Daily Scroll
  • Organize and manage the Pirates photo library
  • Assist in the implementation and scheduling of the Pirates Advertising Campaigns and Public/Media Relations efforts
  • Assist in the scheduling of player appearances
  • Assist in all radio and television broadcasts
  • Write and distribute press releases and photography, and follow through on story placement
  • Assist with Social Networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Google, and Instagram
  • Audit social media and media websites for content
  • Database media articles
  • Qualifications:

    • Writing, editing, and online network/mobile skills
    • Intuitive hockey knowledge
    • Must bring laptop
    • Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    Term Consideration:
    The Pirates would prefer candidates who can commit to the entire season (September-May). However, Fall Semester (September-December) and Spring Semester (January-May) internships are available for all departments. Interns will work Monday-Friday as well as Game nights, with hours varying by department.

    Complimentary parking and Pirates game tickets are provided. Internships are not compensated positions (candidates seeking academic credit preferred). Interns must supply their own laptop and cell phone. Attire is business casual.
