The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are looking to hire 10-15 Associate Interns for the 2013 season.

Our Associate Internship program is designed for college students who may not yet qualify for our full season internship program or do not have the availability to commit to our full season internship. It is our hope that the Associate Internship program may serve as feeder system to our full season internship program.

The Associate Internship program is for highly motivated college students that have an interest in the business of sport management and have a passion for baseball. The Sea Dogs have a strong reputation for providing fun, family entertainment at an affordable price and depend on the efforts of all of our employees to make the organization a success.

This opportunity would allow you to get your foot in the door and learn about the industry in various ways: including ticket sales, customer service or performing other game day responsibilities. Ticket sales duties will include assisting the ticket office with incoming and outgoing sales calls along with contributing to the overall sales goals. The hours would be much more flexible allowing you to also work other part time jobs if you would like and or take classes in the spring. You would be expected to work the majority of the games throughout the summer. The ideal candidates would be local college students.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must currently be a college student (underclassmen, upperclassmen, and graduate students are all eligible).
  • Must be able to available for at least 75% of the Sea Dogs home games.
  • A desire to pursue a career in the sport management field.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • A fun and outgoing personality with a strong work ethic.
  • Attend staff orientation session in April.

Duties:

  • Assist with game set-up and general office work (pre-game).
  • Serve as a Hadlock Field usher during games.
  • Assist with post-game duties (fireworks pick-up, tarp, handing out schedules, etc.).
  • Work as a ticket sales representative assisting with incoming, outgoing, and walk-up ticket sales.
  • Other duties include Fan Photo photographer and assisting with promotions.
  • Opportunity to attend seminars lead by Sea Dogs' management on sales, pr, marketing, etc.

Hours:

  • 15-30 hours a week.
  • Approximately five hours a game (arriving 2 hours prior to the scheduled start of the game), plus any scheduled ticket office hours.

Compensation: $7.50/ per hour and a foot in the door in the sport industry.
