Professor hires local resident with National Science Foundation grant

Shannon Reilly of Windham, Maine, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., has been hired as a laboratory assistant for Dr. Mark Green, associate professor of marine science at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine. Reilly graduated from Saint Joseph's in 2006 with a double major in chemistry and environmental science. Dr. Green has received a National Science Foundation grant to continue his research on juvenile clam mortality, which could affect a clam industry that generates $57 million annually in the United States.
