Saint Joseph’s College will offer two classes in Babysitter’s Training & First Aid Certification, one on Wednesday, June 20, and another on Sunday, June 24, at the Harold Alfond Center on the Standish campus. The course will provide young people, ages 11 to 15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. The college will also offer the babysitting course on Sunday, Aug. 5.
Topics that are covered include leadership skills, caregiving, first aid skills, safe play and safety. Students will be given a comprehensive babysitter’s training manual and the tools needed to create a babysitter’s kit. With successful completion of the course, participants will earn an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training certification and a First Aid Certification.
Students are asked to bring their own lunch, snacks, and a drink.
The class runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $75 (or $65 for recertification). If a class is needed on a different day, Saint Joseph’s can create a class at another time if there are four interested people. Call 893-6615 or e-mail email@example.com to register or for more information. To learn about other Red Cross classes on campus, go to www.sjcme.edu/alfond/redcross.
