2014 CPA workshop series begins May 22

The CPA Series at Saint Joseph’s College will hold a one-day workshop for certified public accountants and other financial professionals on Thursday, May 22, at its campus in Standish. The workshop provides eight hours of continuing education credits toward licensing requirements, in addition to one hour of ethics.

The workshop’s topics include:

—Affordable Care Act updates, with Steve Gerlach, employee benefits attorney
—Estate and trusts, DOMA updates, with Richard Ploss, Trusts and Estates and Business Law Practice Group
—Maine tax appeal process, with Robert Creamer, chief appeals officer
—Ethics and elder law, with Jennifer Eastman, partner, Rudman Winchell
—Cool tech tools for CPAs, with Justin Sparks, instructional technologist
—Improving 401(k) plans, with Josh Chase, financial advisor

The CPA Series workshop will be held in the Viola George Auditorium, Harold Alfond Hall, on Saint Joseph’s Standish campus. It runs from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Check-in and a continental breakfast will occur from 7 to 8 a.m. Registration is $149 and includes lunch.

The series continues with three additional workshops: August 21, September 26 (in Bangor), and on November 20.
