Saint Joseph’s writer, athlete and double major student earns prized scholarship

Will Armishaw, a senior at Saint Joseph’s College, has been awarded the Higher Education Assistance Foundation scholarship of $1,000. Armishaw, a Scarborough High School graduate, is double-majoring in business management and public relations/journalism. He is one of 16 recipients of the award in the state of Maine.

Armishaw’s award reflects his dedication to excellence and service to Saint Joseph’s College’s academic environment. Some of his activities and accomplishments include:

  • Dean’s List
  • Enterprise Scholar
  • Sports editor for student newspaper Fortitudo et Spes
  • Business Club, VP, Class of 2013
  • Student-assistant for men’s basketball
  • Residence advisor
  • Basketball clinic volunteer

The Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation (HEAF) was established in the 1950s as a guarantee fund for student loans. The founders included a wide range of banks, businesses, community organizations and individuals. The fund is now managed by the Maine Bankers Association. Since 1990, a total of $282,000 in scholarships has been awarded.
