Seeds of Peace campers to visit College farm and Catherine’s Cupboard Food Pantry on Wednesday, July 7

Twenty-five Seeds of Peace campers will visit Saint Joseph's College and Catherine's Cupboard Food Pantry in Standish on Wednesday, July 7. The campers, from Israel, Palestine, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States, will tour the organic farm and help pick vegetables beginning at 4 p.m. They will arrive at the food pantry at 5:30 p.m. to volunteer for food distribution and to learn how college staff and its food vendor manager, along with staff from the town, organized the pantry from the ground up. The campers are interested in learning about grassroots American methods of organizing nonprofit groups that do good works. "They will also see that not everyone in the U.S. is rich," says Michael Blais, pantry coordinator. The campers will also enjoy a meal with college and farm staff later in the evening. 893-7723. www.seedsofpeace.org.
