Seminar about effective online teaching

On Friday, July 9, Saint Joseph's College will present "The Excellent Online Instructor," a seminar about effective online teaching in higher education, with noted authors and lecturers Rena Palloff and Keith Pratt.

Topics include the current state of online learning in the United States, different modes/methodologies of online delivery, generational learning differences in students, best practices in online teaching, strategies for transformational online learning, and the future of online instruction in higher education. Palloff and Pratt are the authors of Building Online Learning Communities, Collaborating Online, Learning Together in Community, and The Excellent Online Instructor.

This event is ideal for college and university faculty who want to learn more about online instruction, or for those who desire to improve their current online teaching techniques.
The seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Viola George Auditorium in Alfond Hall at the Standish campus. Space is limited. Call 207-893-7825 or e-mail summer@sjcme.edu. Cost is $75 and includes lunch. Graduate credit is available.
